I’ve finally been caught by the black and white challenge so here is my first day’s photo. I was mulling over the task on my way home from work and as I was accelerating away from a junction this very black and white chap caught my eye. Luckily for me he was in a field very close to a lay-by and I flung the colourful sunshine bus into its entrance, screeched to a halt, fumbled around in my bag for my very colourful (purple) little Ixus (thanks Mum and Dad), ran back up the road and snapped this beast.
He’s a lot nicer in colour. The image looks warm and nice whereas this just looks cold. I like the golden late afternoon sunshine on his back and face, the bright green of his surroundings and the general increase in bucolic-ness that colour gives…
…but that’s something you’re not going to see because a challenge is a challenge!
I did ask DM whether he thought I could get away with taking shots of black and white things and posting them in colour but he thought that was cheating so here it is, duly desaturated. Why is it that other people post black and white images that look exciting/moody/romantic/beguiling but when I post a black and white image it just looks cack?
Andy Northstar nominated me, Todd, Faye, Lee and David are also doing it (and there are probably more - let me know if you've also been caught and I'll link your galleries too).
