11th October 2014 - autumn comes to Plymouth

I’ve been in Plymouth City Centre for the second time in three days – last time to put up notices on the University campus to advertise my textbooks for sale and today to deliver two of my textbooks to a girl who responded to my ad. They’re monstrous things that weigh a tonne and are outrageously expensive to buy. I’ve advertised them at rock-bottom prices directly to students in the Uni because I am so sick of the fact that I paid a small fortune for them and, although there is no doubt they helped me to get my degree, they are now useless to me and they could be helping someone else. I don’t want other students to have to spend what I spent so I’m hoping that they’ll see my ads and grab themselves a bargain.

While there, it was a bit of a shock to realise that it is now, categorically, autumn! These beautiful trees have suddenly started to change colour. I know that the colour change is connected to the clever tree sucking back the important things that it needs to survive the winter and spitting out the nutrients and toxins that it doesn’t need. The colours of autumn are only what they are because the trees are housekeeping to get themselves into good shape for the tough times ahead. They put on a flamboyant, devil-may-care display as a way of saying “we know we’ve got it hard. We understand that the next few months are going to be tough, therefore we’re getting rid of everything we don’t need and battening down the hatches." They are amazing and we take them for granted.

I do like the bit of Plymouth’s “Jetsons” style.

PS - check out the exif - I am a very lucky girl! (Thanks Mum and Dad.)
