2nd March 2014 - scratch that itch!

Ooooohhhh yes…

I told a tale of an itch the size of a small building and a knight in shining armour last week. Today, after Alun Parry’s valiant effort that certainly went above and beyond the call of duty, I get to listen to the song that’s been driving me mad for months now as many times as I want and hopefully, I’ll get my fill of its charms. For anyone outside of the UK (unless of course it's an international campaign, I have no way of knowing) the song is on the Suzuki ad that's on ceaselessly at the moment and it's a 1959 song by James Brown called "I want you so bad" - see track 19 on the list!

Tomorrow morning I am going to slot this lovely little CD into the hungry mouth of my newly acquired CD player in the sunshine bus. I’m going to hear James Brown’s dulcet tones and smile. There will be singing along and general happiness and appreciation of such a fine voice. There may even be a bit of bouncing around in my seat if traffic conditions allow. If you should be on a road near me and spot a ghastly, yet strangely lovely, acid green, flower and bee endowed sunshine bus wobbling about you’ll know why!

This is only possible because DM bought me a second hand CD player for the Sunshine Bus for Christmas. I’ve not made enough use of it yet, having only had one CD in the car since then – Joe Jackson’s greatest hits. A brilliant album but nonetheless after two months of nothing but, I’m ready for new sounds.

My journey tomorrow morning is into the unknown again as I’m going on a short teaching practice to a very special place. It’s not a state-run school, indeed it’s not a state-run anything. What it is, is a place I already have a close association with and somewhere I might just find myself doing my dream job… even though it will only be for a week. I’m going to get plenty of time to listen to JB over and over again because I’m going on a longer commute than I’ve done since I left my job in Epsom.

Given that I’m still wrangling with my “masters level” (ha ha) assignment on the application of high quality teaching and learning, there have not been many smiles in my life of late so Alun has provided some much needed respite from drudgery and a method with which I can scratch a particularly persistent itch. I have not set foot outside of my house since I arrived home on Friday other than to wade through the knee-deep mud to go to the hen-house to let the chickens out. I suspect this essay may be the straw that broke this camel’s back.

as they say on our local radio station, "different is good". Enjoy JB and have some fun!

Time for some different tunes, a different route, and a different assignment! Have fun!
