16th February 2014 - live action thriller

Spot the action in this photo!

We’ve taken advantage of the calm between two ferocious storms – the one on Friday brought winds of over 60 mph. Everything in our world was terrifying – going up and down the stairs to Colin’s flat was as scary as a scary thing, the railways were closed, the Tamar bridge was down to a single lane and only open to cars, no lorries. The whole place was in virtual shut-down yet despite this Colin managed to battle his way down here – 300 miles in appalling conditions and he was only two hours later than we’d expected him!

Tomorrow the next one blows in and although it’s expected to be a bit less fierce (only 40 mph), it’s still going to be horrible. I have to go to Uni and I’m not exaggerating when I say I’m nervous about the travelling.

So, on a gorgeous, golden, sunny day we walked the dogs and I took this shot of four of my favourite people on the planet (a few others would be here in an ideal world but for now these four will do nicely). Colin is the one that’s not DM (for anyone who’s not met him before on these pages) and as for the action? Spot the tennis ball (known as TB in our house) in mid-air, Lola already in full flight and the more canny and economical with his running, JD with his eye glued to the ball before he sets off. Guess who got it? JD of course. Lola is full of enthusiasm for the task but has little finesse and less killer instinct in front of goal than JD. They’re all sitting in front of Houseman’s engine house which seems to be closed for some reason at the moment.

Tomorrow I hope the live action isn't too thrilling, if you know what I mean!

I always think those engine houses will be great when they are finished...
