25th September 2013 - misty morn

I didn't even get more than twenty paces from my own front door this morning when I was able to fulfil my PaD pact. The sun shining over valleys full of mist and a great cloud formation gave me my opportunity without me needing to break sweat other than the sweat broken by lugging a rucksack around on my back that must weigh at least 15 kilos. I am going to weigh it tonight and see just how much it does weigh. Still, on the bright side, a summer of concreting and an autumn carting around a heavy object and lots of walking, stairs and the other "challenges" posed by the campus does mean I am losing weight for the first time in ages. That's got to be considered good.

I sit and type this text in my lunch break, meaning that all I need to do later is to process the photo and stitch the two bits, photo and text together. This could be considered a minimal exercise when it's out of the G7 - as DM says, if it doesn't come out "right" then you just can't make it right with processing in the way you can with an SLR.

Some of this studying stuff is hard, some tiresome and some downright spoon-feeding but overall so far it's been reasonably enjoyable. What I don't get is the timetabling - next week and the week after, I have four days where the timetable is solid (no gaps at all) from 9am to 6pm. No time for lunch or a quick coffee. In an office or a place of work, that'd be against the law. I wonder if those laws apply to places of education because if they do they're being flouted here. As some of the stuff I'm doing is pretty physical, I'm not sure that I can last all day with no access to a drink or snack. I wonder...

Later in the day, I asked my personal tutor about the issue of timetable congestion and was told that “it’d be resolved”, I await its resolution with interest!
