Oh to be eating a flakey, chocolatey, creamy, dreamy cake.

Comfort food is needed here in the Mingay household tonight. DM has had an utterly crappy week, culminating in the most massive of crappiness today. Still, there is one good thing. At least we can now see something on the horizon beyond the next day. I have been doing my best to mop his fevered brow but there is only so much mopping I can do.

As for me? I’ve been working on BDEF (biodiversity and ecosystem function to you and me). It’s a lovely well-meaning idea that stands no chance of survival in a world full of corporate sharks who only give a shit about their profit margins, bonuses and share dividends. Do I sound cynical? Moi? Well surely you knew that already!

So…

I’m just about to pick up my large wedge of chocolate cake and scoff it. What? It’s not chocolate? Don’t be ridiculous! It’s what? It’s a mushroom? Surely not? It's one of those things that is kept in the dark and fed piles and piles of shit? How very appropriate!
