One of the things we are determined to achieve when we get married is an eco-friendly wedding. So, today I ordered our hand-made wedding rings from a lady who was born, brought up and continues to live and work in Cornwall. She’s making our rings from recycled silver too.
I’m doing all of the catering myself, using local ingredients and home-grown stuff where possible. I’ve bought beef from a smallholding three miles from here where the cattle live outdoors and are organically/humanely reared then slaughtered locally. The fish is coming from a local port where they only do “day-fishing”. It’s all going to be sustainable and fresh. The vegetarian dish will have cheese in it that comes from less than a mile from here.
We’re having “champagne” from our local vineyard – yep, I know, they’re not allowed to call it champagne but it sees off many champagnes in blind tastings and has won lots of awards. The beer will be local too.
There will also be a “tea party” with home made jam, scones and tea…….see above.
I’ve bought all of the crockery in local charity shops and will return it when we’re through with it so effectively, I’m making a donation to charity for the “hire” of crockery. (The tea pots I’ve amassed from the stores are the ones in this shot.)
At some stage either closer to the event or just after the event, I’ll be more specific about the menu but for now, it’s going to be a big, jolly mad tea party – there may even be a few hats there too!
