This is an illustration of the difference between the crop sensors and the full frame ones even though it’s of course not the sort of silly pointless testing that the camera bores do. You know the sort of thing – “here is a can of baked beans shot with my Canon 50mm lens and here is a shot with my 18-55mm, set to 50mm, as you can see, when you blow it up to 200% you can see barrel distortion and lens flare….etc etc etc”…..yawn! David will spend hours poring over tests between different cameras, lenses and other kit though thankfully he’s not yet been bitten by the need to do it himself.
We’ve been out to eat again because I’ve not had the heart to cook in my sink-less kitchen again tonight. This is day 3 of being sink-less and therefore water-less in the kitchen. I’ve managed lunches at home but so far haven’t managed an evening meal.
If I’m being honest, it’s more the thought of it than the reality – let’s face it, I only have to run upstairs to the bathroom every time I need water or pop out of the back door to empty waste water into the drain. It’s not like I’m trudging 10 miles a day with a pot on my head collecting water from the next village or anything.
We went to a veggie restaurant in Plymouth and with dull weather we failed to spot any photo ops while we were out so DM yelled “STOP” when we got to the bridge and we parked up and took these shots.
His is with the crop sensor on the 20d shot at the widest end of his small zoom lens. My shot is with my 100mm lens. They were both shot from the same picnic bench in the car park. You’ll notice that his shot is wider than mine, but especially because I’ve corrected a tilt in this shot so I’ve cropped it a bit, there’s not as much in it as you’d expect, given his was taken at 28mm and mine at 100mm.
This is the first time that we’ve ever posted such similar shots on our PAD/photo diary.
Me – I took it in semi-desperation (as did he) and for me, the lights and the Brunel bridge were worth the cross-over.
