12th April 2009 - 360º view

OK so I know this shot isn’t 360º but nonetheless from this spot you get a view of 20 miles or more in every direction. The shot is wanting in the 360º department because I couldn’t be bothered with tripod and stitching together of pics. That’s my short attention span showing again.

DM, Colin and Archie have their backs to Dartmoor and the Tamar Valley, they’re facing St Austell Bay and the sea, which can be seen round as far as the Seaton Valley. If they look to their right, they can see right across Bodmin Moor to Brown Willy and beyond. Don’t read anything bad into them having their backs to Dartmoor – it’s not a statement of anything other than position. Colin has a very happy childhood connection to Okehampton and we (DM and I) both love Dartmoor.

Colin thinks he’s really lucky because, by all accounts, the weather in London is grim over the Easter weekend yet here on the moor we have glorious weather, good enough to sunbathe in (if you can consider sitting in a chair in the garden, soaking up some rays through a fleece, sunbathing). I’ve finished my Indian “bonkbuster” (Saris and Sins) and Colin has devoured two of my books while we’ve sat out in the sunshine, only “forcing” ourselves up to put the dogs on their leads and walk. My word I never thought I’d ever be able to utter the words “Indian Bonkbuster” – let’s face it, it would be completely irreverent to use the expression about something like the Kama Sutra….

This picture looks as though we’re being really healthy but the fact is that within half an hour of taking this shot, we were in the pub sampling the Doom Bar and eating pub grub instead of the meal I’d dreamed up while in the garden earlier. My plans went to pot after a couple of beers so we abandoned them and ate in the pub instead.

Where’s Rosie? She’s so joyful that she’s cantering round in circles and just happened to be out of shot when this pic was taken although I chose it because Colin and DM both look so jolly.

Do you think Colin looks a bit like he’s about to whip a box of Milk Tray out from under his jumper? He does to me……does that make me weird? You know, that glamorous smile, the black, the big movie-like surroundings....

Great Picture! Yes absolutely! When I saw it I thought that he was about to whip out a microphone and do a 'Tom Jones' special or light up and inform us that Menthol cigarettes are really food for us!
The weather in Bath was also amazing

Beautiful shot. Maybe I'll make it to Cornwall when I visit England in June.
