Travel author Rick Steves, says this about Budapest ("BOO-daw-pesht"). "It is as challenging as it is enchanting. The sprawling Hungarian capital on the banks of the Danube...is a city of nuance and paradox - cosmopolitan, complicated, and tricky for the first-timer. ... Think of Budapest like that favorite Hungarian pastime, chess: it's simple to learn...but takes a lifetime to master."

In September of 2011, Al (hubby) and myself had the opportunity to visit Budapest for our first time and after exporing for four days we left knowing that we had only just begun to discover this fascinating city. The fates be willing, we hope to return.

When I travel I always hope for an element of uniqueness in my images and although the images in this Gallery are not as 'personal' as I would have liked I am hoping that they nicely represent our first visit to Budapest, Hungary.
