New River Gorge Bridge Arches gracefully across the New River, in Fayette County, WV. The bridge has the world's 2nd longest single arch steel span, surpassed only recently by the Lupu Bridge in Shanghai. The New River Bridge stands 876 feet high above the white water rapids of the New River. On the third Saturday of October each year BASE jumpers from all over the world, jump from the bridge to the shores of the New River below.
