Auckland

Auckland, New Zealand view map

328 meters high Sky Tower in Auckland is the tallest tower in southern hemisphere. It is taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The whole tower took 2 years and 9 months to built and it was opened on 3rd August 1997. It has been designed to withstand winds of up to 200 km/h.
Photo was taken facing eastward from Sky Deck observation level 220 meters high.
On the top left side Rangitoto island with 260 meters high volcano can be clearly seen. It errupted out of sea only 800 years ago. It's now believed to be extinct.
