lost and found

I was Lost.
But I Found You.
Do You see Me now?
Don’t walk away...
Or You are already gone?

Wonderful shot and nice caption. I like the eyesight captured in this shot.

I don't have the patience of reading all the comments... which are sure very interesting.
Here I love the high key treatment, the composition and, most of all, your eye and your and behind the grid.
Very expressive and powerful image. V

The over exposure gives a very tactile side of the window frame and strengthens the feeling of this despair. Very beautiful!

Images like this always are attract attention of the viewer. Original speaking photo, creatively framed with white emptiness, like thoughts of something unfinished.
To me this is mostly abstract thoughts, and doubts, loosing and founding...
Nicely done, Ai Li!

I had the same idea as Doug. Instead of appearing psychotic though you appear meek and vulnerable.

Because of the reinforced glass on the door window, I saw this as possibly a photo of a psychiatric prisoner or maybe just a psychic prisoner who feels lost and desires to be found. I really can't add much to the terrific comments that have already been made. You and your work are amazing and inspiring. Thanks for keeping me impressed.
Oh, and voted!

You giveth and you taketh away, Ai Li. At last, your real eyes (or one eye at least) appear in this amazing gallery for the first time. (I thought the early image titled "my eyes" gave me a window into your soul, at least for a moment, but as it turned out those were not your eyes after all.) But this eye is yours, and for first time in this gallery, we are directly engaged with you in eye to eye contact. I feel as if I have finally met you, even if we are allowed to see only one of your eyes, half of your face, and almost none of your mouth in this shot. You abstract yourself quite substantially here -- a prisoner of your own soul. You separate yourself from us by a wall of mesh and a void of white, daring us to help to you while at the same time retreating to a self-imposed prison.

Yet I have to come look at this gallery as more than any single image. For me, it is a cumulative experience. For almost 15 images now, you have been exploring the subject of self-exposure, and revealing who you are to us in tiny bits and pieces along the way. Like any human, you are a complicated blend of fears and hopes, strengths and weaknesses. In the course of making these images, and reading and reacting to the amazing responses to them, you have come to know yourself and your art in new and important ways. You show considerable courage and talent in the process. Although many of your images may reflect pain, frustration, and fear, you also show us a positive side by having the guts and persistence to display such thought provoking ideas as these in the first place, and using yourself as a vehicle for your art. More power to you, Ai Li. May you continue to learn much from this process.

Really excellent graphical approach!

So much expression and so well caught. Great capture and post production

Agree with Kal for the one eye... and the best way!:)

Now we're talking! Love that we can see your eye, and a very interesting composition. A sense of curiosity (instead of depression).

Always full of emotions!!!

This one has a lot to say! Moody, mysterious, and marvelous! V

Wonderful high key image, the door works well here...great use of negative space! You almost looked trapped behind that door, but the strong "you" will overcome~ Brilliant work Ai Li!
Guest 02-Nov-2006 21:06
Looking out from a cage? or are we looking into one?
Fanatasic neg space and it works so brilliantly..as your creations always seem to!

Top stuff...

Good morning in Singapore. thanks for this gallery an image. You are a very moody woman, but they make great images.
Guest 02-Nov-2006 01:28
Brilliant composition...love that you expose only half of yourself.
You look caged in behind the door, looking a little lost.
Mostafa Moftah02-Nov-2006 01:07

Very clever and creative as always!!
VOte!

Captivating, Ai Li. You not only show one eye, you dare us to look away with an intense stare. The small window is confining you, and as Kal puts it, there is "always a secret left untold" with you.

Yes...but I believe one window and one eye and so only half the soul...always a secret left untold. The best way ;-)K

Superb work! Vote that is very well deserved.
David Grundy01-Nov-2006 12:06
The frame within the frame, the choice of exposure, the pose, the glimpse of the hand - it's all brilliant.
I don't always have anything to say that seems worth saying on the same page as these great images, but I'm touched by your self-expression in this gallery.
Guest 01-Nov-2006 11:51
Another masterpiece Ai Li. SP is the first two letters of SPeciAL and thats what you are. Your creativity and words are an inspiration to us all.

Good to see NOT another pumpkin head on that halloween day!

Agree with JD - there is a "prisoner" feeling in here...perhaps a prisoner of unfilled expectations? Another Ai Li classical in artistic, mood and message! Gots easily my vote!
Guest 01-Nov-2006 07:02
Moody because of the "prisonner" feel, but your eye is very clear and joyfull. Interesting composition and crop, nice work on light and composition. Creative SP. Voted.
