Just too good! V

I understand..what I see is her head down to avoid looking at the overload of pattern.. perfct timing and composition..v thanks for the link :)

Bingo :)
It's impossible not to be drawn to these shots...
And what a great effect in the photo. The way you've focused so beautifully on the "azulejos" (that's the name of the tiles here) and then the girl rushing in a soft blur.. Wonderful, not just because it's visually atractive, but it's because it's so simple ;)

just perfect, bravissima.

nice composition!

Portuguese, or even north african pattern. Such wall can be found in Morroco very often. Superb composition and very interesting use of slow speed.

Brave interesting idea. And double meaning.

I wasnt supporting France.
This is great Al, like an optical illusion the pattern is quite disorientating, you almost have to look away...like your bowed girl.
David Grundy06-Jul-2006 13:45
Nicely done; having read your comment I would agree that you've created this feeling well.
Guest 06-Jul-2006 09:44
No need to feel sorry for Portugal - they got what they deserved - never has the entire English nation supported France in a game of football. ;0))) This is breathtaking, for all the reasons everyone has mentioned - one of my absolute favourites of yours - voted.

Your crop is wonderful AL. Stunning image in every aspect. v

No, not too much, this is fantastic! I haven't seen anything like it.

Well said, Guenter :-) I actually waited for the girl to pass me, almost walking out of my frame, as if she felt everything was too much.
Bill, thanks for your comment. It would be a different feel if I caught her walking into the frame. I was captivated yet disturbed by the printed wall and wanted to show the busy or rather "chaotic" side of the world we're living in. Sometimes we choose to walk away with our heads down.
To Ray, I too felt sorry for Portugal... Lost my bet :-((( Perhaps I posted it with some foresight. I got another pic about France taken during my trip. Let see how the final match turns out and my pic may just be most appropriate ;D

It is very busy but it does work.

Very beautiful composition. Love her motion against the complex tilework. Vote.
Ray Rebortira05-Jul-2006 22:36
Oh dear, seeing this after the game makes me feel bad for Portugal. However, the distinctive Azulejo tiles become truly alive with the girl passing by. Bravo!!!
Guest 05-Jul-2006 21:29
I like how the girl breaks the pattern.
No,not too much at all. :)
fred_il05-Jul-2006 19:45
Excellent! the passing girl is just perfect!
Doug Kessler05-Jul-2006 19:14
Beatiful composition and colors. Perfect!
Guest 05-Jul-2006 19:14
The perfect girl for this picture. She's in modern dress and walking out of the frame. Yesterday's image was photographically on a par with this... but the elements in this one make for so much more - it's fabulous! V
Guenter Eh05-Jul-2006 18:11
You can see the influence of portuguese culture in the wall patterns! Like the girl is walking out of the frame - it seems she`s escape from "too much" overboarding colors and patterns! Wonderful composition!
Rob Rosetti05-Jul-2006 16:48
Wonderful, so graphical. Love the presence of the girl walking out of the frame. Roberto
Bill Miller05-Jul-2006 15:45
Great shot as it is, would have been nice to see her walk into the frame rather than out....
Guest 05-Jul-2006 15:30
Lol. love the title. Looks like an optical illusion that if I stare at long enough I'll see a statue of liberty or something similar. Great work - like the human element also which brings this some scale and ever so slightly back to earth.
Stu05-Jul-2006 14:40
Great use of the wall pattern...really like it, and the one yesterday which I haven't commented on but is also fantastic!
Kal Khogali05-Jul-2006 14:09
Painterly to the point that it is almost unreal...great composition. K
