The original lighthouse was built in 1892 but destroyed by the Earthquake of 1918. It has been fully restored and is now part of the El Faro Park, a tourist and recreation center.
Overlooking the sea and nearby Desecheo island, it faces the west, it's a perfect spot to watch surfing competitions and also catch the famous sunsets in Rincón.
