I followed old railway lines and indistinct dirt tracks along the eastern shore,
until I crossed sand dunes blocking the road. I barely made it and knew there was
'no going back'. Without cell reception and traveling solo, I contemplated
my fate. If I broke down, I figured it would take two nights of walking before I reached civilization.
