Primrose (Primula vulgaris)

Drom South, Castletownbere, Co. Cork

The flowering of the primrose generally signals the arrival of spring in Ireland. The delicate yellow flowers appear between a rosette of extremely crinkly leaves. Its English name literally means "first rose".
