Brussels, capital of Belgium, Flanders and Europe
Brussels has a very peculiar relationship to the divine number "seven". Not only is Brussels spread over seven hills (like Rome) called Cold Mountain, St Michael's Mount, Warmoesberg, Mont des Arts, St-Pierre, the Sablon and the Botanical Gardens. It also has seven fortified gates and towers which had Hallepoort, the black tower and the remaining are Aneesentoren. During the Middle Ages, the political life in the hands of 7 patrician Irish families who occupy seats 7 ships and 7 keys of the city kept track. Even on market we see seven streets converge here from which meat and bread street (rue des Bouchers) is the most renowned among tourists. The markets are obviously the town hall built in the 15th century, offering top of the tower in gilded copper the patron saint of the city: adorned the angel Michael. The house owes its name to the Wolvin a bas-relief that Romulus and Remus (the founders of Rome) fed by a wolf suggests. Also standing on top of the building, a phoenix and you find that there are 4 statues corresponding to the Roman emperors Trajan, Tiberius, Augustus and Caesar.

Brussel heeft een zeer eigenaardige relatie tot het goddelijke getal “zeven”. Niet alleen ligt Brussel verspreid over zeven heuvels (Net als Rome): genaamd Koudenberg, St-Michielsberg, Warmoesberg, Kunstberg, St-Pietersberg, de Zavel en de Kruidtuin. Het heeft ook zeven versterkte poorten en torens gehad waarvan de Hallepoort, de zwarte toren en de Aneesentoren nog overgebleven zijn. Tijdens de Middeleeuwen was het politieke leven in handen van 7 patriciersfamilies die 7 schepenzetels bekleden en 7 sleutels van de stad bijhielden. Ook op markt zien wij zeven straten die hier samenkomen waarvan de vlees en broodstraat (rue des Bouchers) de gekendste is bij de toeristen. Op de markt bevind zich uiteraard het stadhuis dat gebouwd is in de 15e eeuw en waar bovenop de toren in verguld koper de patroon heilige van de stad: de engel Michaël prijkt. Het huis de Wolvin dankt zijn naam aan een bas-reliëf dat Romulus en Remus (de stichters van Rome) gevoed door een wolvin voorstelt. Ook bevind zich bovenop het gebouw een feniks en men vind er ook 4 standbeelden die overeen stemmen met de Romeinse keizers Trajanus, Tiberius, Augustus en Caesar.
