Focus on octagonal towermill "de witte molen" in Sint-Niklaas
The origin of this mill lies in 1696. It was then an octagonal oil and grain mill. It is built in stone, a rarity in Belgium. It is now only a grain mill. During the industrial revolution in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the mill had a monopoly position in Sint-Niklaas. In 2005 it was restored, so that it can grind again. This mill is very active and is well worth a visit.
