Focus on Postmill Koutermolen in Sint-Martens-Latem

Oldest known date is 1373. Several times destroyed but always rebuilt.The present mill was built in 1614. It's an enclosed postmill, meaning that the base is closed, in this case brick walls. It was used for storage. In 1972 the mill became property of the village. In 1978-79 a major restoration took place and the mill was moved about 88 meters to ensure better wind. It used to have 3 pair of millstones, but today only 2 pair remain. The drive for the third pair is still present.
