The tongkangs along the Singapore River are a reminder of the trading buzz that once existed along the entire Singapore River. They were the backbone of the Singapore’s economy and the soul of the river, until they were removed and the river over sanitized and the banks over populated by an abundance of western style riverside cafes and pubs.
