No, it's not the same place. The place I was talking about is up the road a bit where a road comes down the hill and joins Back Bay dr. I have had great success with clapper rails there lately. I've seen soras there but too far out for photos. Next time I am there I will check the duck pond as well. You must've taken these from the bridge, but it looks level with the bird.
Hi Nick! Nice to hear from you. This was at the duck pond across from the parlking lot at Back Bay. Is that the same place you're talking about? I was actually looking at some redheads that were laying on top of the reeds and I glanced down to my left and this guy was standing there stretching away! He stood there for a good 5 minutes until my husband walked up. I had a great birding day on the day I took these. I got some stilt close-ups and some nice pics of teals bathing.

Hi Leslie,
I still don't see how you get such great shots as these with just a Oly 750! Such an elusive bird too. Was this at the duck pond at the base of San Joaquin Hills Rd.? I've seen a sora there before but only at a distance for a split second. A clapper rail came out and walked around right in front of me there when I only had my binocs!
