This nest is located on the grounds of a nearby hotel. The nest is right next to the walking path in a small tree, about 4 feet from the ground. I am guessing on the species. If it is in fact an Allen's, they lay 2 eggs and fledge in approximately 22 days. When I first discovered the nest, there was one almost completely naked baby with just a few fluffy feathers on it's back and an egg. The 2nd egg never hatched. This little one is getting all of mom's attention and seems very fat and healthy. I know the nests stretch, but I can't imagine another bird crammed in there!
These are not the sharpest pictures I've ever taken as the lighting is not the greatest. But,it's actually a pretty good spot for a nest even with it's close proximity to foot traffic, because the tree is beneath an overhang.
