It was a cool in the morning but warmed up nicely. Eleanor had graduated from Cricket to Wakeyan. It was 30 deg. F when we started. I didn’t even have to use toe warmers. The wind was from the North East at about 15 mph. It was 69 when we started and 75 when we finished. Barometric pressure was steady.

It was the come as you are hunt. The purpose was that guests could try foxhunting without having to buy all the proper attire. Members were to wear proper attire to demonstrate the pageantry of foxhunting. I wore my lightest weight tweed and rust breeches.

From the clubhouse we headed north and west along the ridge while Eleanor worked the woods to our left. We went into the horse pasture and back up the hill staying in the fields while Eleanor worked the thick woods. Hounds started speaking and we took off across the driveway and along the bean field. The third field viewed the hunted fox across the road from the kennels. We worked the bluffs but the hounds lost the scent. We headed across the creek and then along the creek going southward. Soon hounds started speaking again and we ran all the way to the hog farm and up the driveway and then to the west. It sounded like the main part of the pack had gone south in the creek and crossed highway Z at the bridge.

Eleanor went up the creek after them and we headed in. While we were on our way in the Third Field viewed a coyote crossing the field near the creek.
