We finally had a reasonably warm day. It was 45 deg. F when we started. I didn’t even have to use toe warmers. The wind was from the East. It warmed up to 57 degrees by the time we stopped. Barometric pressure was falling.

We had a fun field. Several people were in town for the Beagle / Basset gold cup and had come hunting with us. Brenda Yost Huntsman for Mill Creek rode with Eleanor. Tommy Jackson MFH of Mr. Jackson’s Oxford hounds whipped with Lee Deutsch. In the field we had a lovely junior rider from Mill Creek. Also Ellen Baehr brought a cople of game people from her barn. It was great to see them all come out and have such a good time. It was also Jill Wagenknecht’s first hunt since her hip replacement. It was great to see her back in the saddle.

From the club we headed to the end of the driveway and then turned South. We went on the woods path along Hwy HH and then turned down the road and headed west. Eleanor worked the woods to the North of us. She worked the woods and then we turned and headed North along the top of the bluffs by the natural bridge. We came out of the woods on the field across from the kennels.

Hounds worked the edge of that field and then in the woods between the next two fields. Suddenly a red fox burst from the covert and dashed across the field toward the woods on top of the cliff we had just left.

We had a short run but the scenting conditions weren’t good and we lost him.

Then Eleanor decided to work the Hog farm area so we picked up the hounds and headed that direction. Hounds worked that area hard and through the woods and along the fields. We went out the lane to the hog farm and then headed north along the edge of those fields. We eventually kicked up a coyote and had quite a nice run for a while. The scenting conditions were getting worse though and so we decided to head in.

We finished around 1:30 pm and went into the club to enjoy the lunch Jill brought.
