It was a cool 28 deg. F when we started, and the wind was from the North at about 8 mph. The temperature did not warm up much and only went up to 35 deg. F. Barometric pressure was rising in the morning and started falling in the afternoon.

From the club we headed to the end of the driveway and then turned North. I was the only one in the field so I was enjoying a close view of the hound work. We jumped the coop into the horse pasture and then crossed the pasture and jumped out. We went across the field and then popped over the post and rail. Eleanor then went close to the edge of the woods while I stayed on top of the hill and followed from there. I ended up on the other side of the fence from her and had to jump the coop down the hill to join her. We then crossed the creek and she drew the woods to the south while I went North to the end of the point of the woods to watch and wait. Hounds started speaking and I watched as Eleanor came across the field and after she went by and headed East I went after her.

Hound sounded good but a couple were headed into Lembeck’s where we can’t go, Gene was able to stop most of them but we had to wait for the others to return. We went on and Eleanor went through the middle of the woods while I stayed at the edge. Then I went down the Perimeter trail while she worked the woods between it and the pipeline.

Nothing there so we jumped the Bitch coop and went into Welch’s. We made a large loop around the cattle pasture and found nothing. Then Eleanor was working some woods and I was to one side of her when I heard the hounds speaking. I waited where I was and Eleanor came blasting through the woods and I fell in behind. She was trail blazing which made it especially exciting. I kept up with her back toward Welch’s corner and followed her over a couple of coops and through the woods. She went ahead coming out of the woods and I stopped and waited. The hounds did a big loop of the field and I could see the leaders of the pack come blasting by me although I did not view the game. I fell in behind Eleanor again and off we went. She went back out and over the Bitch coop again. My horse was tiring and I decided to take the longer way around Welch’s corner.

I came over the coop at Welch’s corner just in time to see Eleanor circle back with the hounds and jump the coop at John’s gate. I again opted for the easier route through Welch’s corner and along the creek. Hounds had turned again and were still in Welch’s although farther North. I crossed the pipeline and headed back up the perimeter trail. At the back gate to Welch Road I found Lee and she let me ride with her for a while. Hound sounded like they were still going North so we headed North to the property boundary with Lembecks. We could hear hounds but we couldn’t get to them. Soon we didn’t hear them anymore and Eleanor announced on the radio she was heading in so we headed across the grass highway to intercept her near the creek crossing.

We finally finished around 2:30 pm and went into the club to enjoy the lunch Tess had made.
