Lunch/Brunch – Tailgate by Annie Hoagland with help from Gigi.

It was a nice day 46 deg. F when we started, the temperature came up to 60 by the time we were done. The ground was very dry. Winds were from the Northeast at 10mph and more.

From the parking we headed East and then toward the Macoupin River. Hounds spoke along the river and a few crossed. They never stayed speaking for long though. We worked our way southwest along the river and then headed east through the junkyard. We were in that marshy area when we viewed a coyote heading south. It circled in the covert and sat there watching. Soon Eleanor came along and the hounds found the scent. We galloped up the hill and saw him burst out of the covert and lope across the open field. Hounds were trailing behind.

The hounds lost in a freshly plowed field one field over. We then headed to work the fingers and head home.

Annie Hoagland provided a nice tailgate lunch of sandwiches and tomato soup. Gigi came over even though she wasn’t riding to help get it ready. Abby and Caroline tied for best costume.
