It was a beautiful crisp, cold morning. We parked near Garry and David’s house. The temperature started at 42 degrees and increased to 53 degrees. Barometric pressure was falling and it was sunny. The ground was dry. Winds were strong from the Southeast.

We started north up the farm road and then turned into the fields past the cow pasture. We jumped two coops which took us into the horse trials field. Eleanor drew the woods there and worked her way down the hill to the river. She worked southwest along the river. Garry viewed a large fox but it headed to an area we are not allowed to hunt. She then worked the hounds along the edge of the cornfield and toward the fingers. The hunting was difficult due to the dry windy conditions and some loose beagles out rabbit hunting that served as a distraction to the hounds. We heard the hounds speak a few times but nothing much came of it. We saw lots of deer and the hounds were pretty good at ignoring them.

The ladies from Illinois – Annie, Janelle, Gigi, Sue and others prepared a lovely brunch that we ate in the shelter of one of the machine sheds. We had sandwiches and bean soup with a variety of breads.
