Moving average 5.5 mph

It was a cool day but was supposed to warm up more than the previous day. It was 18 degrees F at the farm when I loaded my horse in the trailer. It was finally a sunny day after all the extreme weather we have had. The ground was frozen when we started and started to thaw as we rode. The temperature started at 24 degrees and increased to 39 degrees. Barometric pressure was falling. The ground was still frozen and hard. Winds were from the West at 5 to 8 mph.

We parked at the clubhouse. Mary and Ron’s horse both had shoes off. Fortunately Roger Smith showed up to save the day and put a shoe on each of them. There was another he put a shoe on too before we started. This delayed our start and we started a little after 10AM. We hacked into the farm further and headed toward the Hog Farm where the silo is. Eleanor drew the hounds into a wooded draw below the silo. We followed Eleanor for quite sometime. When the hounds finally spoke they ran off the property and we could not follow.

The photographic subject for the day was Jill. She was whipping off of her retired eventer AJ and wanted photos to send to his previous owner.

After hunting we had a brunch in the new clubhouse. Tom Neese put together a creative luncheon from a shopping trip at Walmart. It was well appreciated by all.
