Sitka is a Tender port and we took the Tender into town right after breakfast. It was raining so the first thing we did was buy $1.50 ponchos for the kids. That insured that it would stop raining shortly thereafter. We toured St Michael’s Cathedral which is a still functioning Russian Orthodox Church with Russian style onion dome on the top. We then went into a couple of Russian Souvenir shops where I fell for some Russian Boxes. We walked on up to Sitka National Park which had several totems as well as a lovely hiking trail through a Hemlock Forest. On the way there we saw several bald Eagles. On the trail we could hear the Eagles and Ravens and some sort of tiny bird that warbled a beautiful song. We had lunch in town and then took a Wildlife viewing cruise on a large Catamaran. We saw many Sea Otters on this cruise and a couple of seals but no whales or puffin. The cruise took us directly back to the ship. After dinner we watched a French Juggler and then the Indonesian Crew put on a show that was lots of fun.
