At the World’s Northernmost City
the sun sets each year for the very last time on October 25th and it will not rise above the horizon again for four months. The sun officially returns to Longyearbyen on March 8th, when it is finally high enough above the horizon to illuminate the steps of the old hospital.

Exceptional! I love the color contrast between the sunlit sections and those in shade. Also the great textures in the ice and snow. ~VVV~

What a rewarding sight to behold after such a long, dark, sunless winter! That pink on the mountaintops is so striking! That ice in the foreground looks like it's melting a bit. Beautiful shot, Yiannis!!

A place of beauty now. I wonder how long it takes for a stranger to acclimate to those long nights. "VV"
