This is a small City in the City or rather a block of old wooden houses. The houses have been moved here from Örebro and the region surrounding Örebro. In some cases the houses are very old and dates back to 15th Century. Here they are rebuilt, restored and preserved as a kind of outdoor museum open to the public daily!
The red color on most of the houses - especially log houses - is Falu Red. Falu Red is an old Swedish color made of ironoxide that constitutes the red. The houses can be painted with this color over and over again as the color allows the tree to breath. It also has a kind of preserving effect on the wood! The Falu Red comes from Falun and is a biproduct from the Copper Mine.
