On Friday, we rode the RER (intra-city commuter train) to tour the Palais de Versailles and the town of Versailles, a 30 minute ride. A local helped us find the right train for the trip. She had lived in Paris for decades and never visited Versailles. This would be her first visit. I should say that my pictures do nothing to show the true beauty and opulence of the ornate décor within the palace. It is a place that must be seen to be appreciated. The tour groups were out in full force at the palace and created quite a mass of humanity within its beautifully adorned halls and rooms. The rain and cold on this day limited our tour of its massive courtyards and gardens.
..
Versailles is one mile or so from the train station.
The "Museum Pass" allowed us to enter immediate bypassing the lines.
