After more than 10 hours of driving including a detour through the “Valley of Fire” east of Las Vegas, we stayed in a motel in St. George. The following day, we drove into Snow Canyon State Park and decided to stay the night so we could explore. This was our first opportunity to see the sandstone formations closely hence the large number of pictures. Geno woke everyone at 5:00 a.m. the next morning so we could photograph the sunrise. The only problem was that the sun did not arise over the mountain ridge until 7:00 a.m.
