Healdsbury to Bodega Bay

The first part of our route replicates our bike tour from last year. Geno wanted to repeat the route so he could show Jay, a newcomer to our bike touring group, some of the most breathtaking sceneries of the north coast. In short, our tour travels through the farmlands around Davis to the vineyards of the Napa and Alexander valleys by way of Lake Berryessa. After meandering around the Russian River area, we connected with the coastal highway west of Occidental via the scenic Coleman Valley Road. For the most part, we then followed the coastal highway south pass San Francisco to the central coast and Los Osos where Jay lived. To avoid traffic, we took occasional side roads off Highway 1 but we usually paid for this choice with long climbs.

Day 4. It's off to Healdsburg for breakfast.	Good buddies. G-man & J-san.	Good breakfast. Sure beats instant oatmeal.	Nice shot Geno.	Hop Kiln

Our route follows the Russian River.	Check that out.	Another good way to travel.	They're camping along the way.	There they go. Sure looks peaceful.
Anna's Hummingbird I presume.	Jim & Ed meet us in route. Jim (in black) toured with us last year.	Their travel time from Sacramento was about 2 hours plus.	Checking out Ed's new BMW.	We all lunch in Guerneville.
Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve		Where's Armstrong?	They all look the same to me!	Armstrong tree. About 1,400 years old.
	Group photo.	We decide to camp for two nights at Casini Ranch.	Day 5 starts with a walk to Duncans Mills.	Good coffee and snacks.
Walkabout.	The most interesting shop in town.	Love that chair. Only $85.	I decide to take a rest day off the bike...	And do some exploring and birding.
		Geno and Jay decide to do a day ride to Fort Ross Road.	It's one of the most scenic roads along the coast.	Great shot Geno.

			Breathtaking road and scenery.
		Jay updates his journal.	Isn't it romantic.	Day 6 begins with a ride to Occidental for breakfast.
Howard's Cafe is the best.	Church in Occidential.	I think this needs some work.	Nice bed & Breaskfast.	Geno stops for a look.
May be useful someday.	I met some of the group from the Back Roads tour yesterday at the coffee shop.	Nice mural.	Climbing Coleman Valley Road.	The road starts in the shade of the woods...
And ends with open vistas of the coast.	Road work delay.	I get a chance to eat and check out the views.		Canadian on vacation.
It feels as if you're on top of the world.		Views of the distance coastline are breathtaking.	Wildflowers abound.	What a view.
	However, it's mighty windy.	A quick shot and it's time to go.	It's all down hill from here.
	We connect onto the coastal highway.	We plan ride Highway 1 to Bodega Bay State Park.		After setting camp, we walked to the Sandpiper for dinner.
