Located at elevations above 8,000 feet, the park sits on the rim overlooking Bryce Canyon. The 18 mile drive along the rim offers great vistas from numerous viewpoints. Seeing them all was a full day’s activity. On our second day, we hiked the “Under the Rim” trail to the Hat Shop and finished just as heavy rainfall started. That evening, we also hiked the 1.3 mile Navajo Loop just before sunset. This is one of the most beautiful and dramatic short hikes in the park. Our stay after two nights of camping ended on a sour note due to an early morning break-in of our van. Luckily the only item of value taken was Geno’s cellphone. They missed the cameras and binoculars.
