Observed Great Gray Owl from 5-6:15 PM less than 100 yards from Dame Rd in a wooded conservation area. The bird sat on tree limbs 15-20 feet above the ground and changed perches twice, flying a short distance each time.
if the bird was highly concerned nobody would have seen it, owls can be extremely elusive creatures who can stay out of sight if desired. sweet pics.

Just a caution to try to avoid projecting "human" interpretations on animal behavior. Birds do not have the same musculature serving their eyes as people do and their expressions should not be anthropomorphized without grave analysis of the asserted opinion. I'm glad to see that you preface your comment about the reason for the bird's flight as being your "interpretation". Not having been there, it's difficult to assess what the bird was feeling at the time.
I'm just sayin'.............

Your concern is appreciated. Myself and others there to observe the owl did our best to maintain a respectful distance from the owl. The photo of the owl flying from it's perch was actually made as I moved further way from the owl.

If the bird was comfortable with the presence of humans then why is it looking at you with concern in its eyes then flying away for what I interpret as getting to a safer place!
