Alaska Birding 2018

These photos are from a fabulous 3 week birding tour with High Lonesome Birding Tours during May and June of 2018. We visited St Paul Island in the Pribilofs, Gambell on St Lawrence Island, Nome, Denali and Seward and the Kenai Peninsula. Coast Hotel in Anchorage was our base of operations. You haven't lived until you have hiked in the Alaskan tundra. The scenery is spectacular but hiking the tundra is challenging. An apt description I heard is 'It's like walking on a giant sponge full of bowling balls.'
