Orchids
Machu Picchu covers an area of around 36,000 hectares in the high Peruvian jungle. Due to its location in the eastern part of the Andes the geographical zone has many different ecological and weather systems.
These special conditions have allowed the development of a vast and varied range of flora and fauna including, in the Machu Picchu area, more than 300 species of trees and 200 species of orchids of all shapes and sizes.
