Shirdar Madrassa
Although built in imitation of the Ulugh Beg Madrassa which it faces across the Registan, the 17th Century Shirdar, or Lion-bearing Madrassa lacks the purity and harmony of style and decoration of its 15th Century model
It is difficult to grasp the enormity of the facades of the buildings surrounding the Registan without comparisons for scale. Note the people standing to the right in the image
