That's an electric blanket on the bed! One turns it on before going to dinner so that one is nice and warm when climbing into bed!
However, one still had to shake out one's boots in the morning to ensure no creatures had crept inside.
What the heck is this!!! This whole time, looking through the gallery, I'm thinkin' man, this guy just took the death flight from hell to get to the middle of the jungle, than trekked 50km's through a leech, mosquito and rat infested jungle, in the pouring rain no doubt, crossing numerous rivers on foot, all the while trying to protect his photo gear to get to a village untouched by modern man and get some first time shots of an unknown tribe to sell to NG ...all the while your sitting in the lap of luxury sipping wine in your chalet by the village!!!
Oh yeah, good documentary shot...
