My paintings are visualisation of thoughts and impressions from my travels as a backpacker throughout Asia and Sahara. Exchanging your rythms and patterns of your daily life is in stark contrast to being on your own and get by under distant skies.

To transcend barriers is an expression of a split-up of two different worlds that encounter by coincidence. It is an invitation to depart from your usual way of thinking by experiencing well-known things but in a different way.

Other cultures are a constant bombardment of astonishing experiences which again and again overwhelm the barriers in your mind. Both patience and comprehension are put to severe tests, but the ability of man to adapt is impressive. One quickly adapts to new conditions and accepts situations in which one has no influence.
