This was probably the PRETTIEST place we saw in our vacation, but it was quite the hike (just about ALL uphill) to get over the top and then down just a bit to the viewing spot. I was SO red-faced, out of breath and weak that I seriously considered turning around and not making it to the overlook, but asking those who were headed down if it was close and their strong encouragement, saying things like "it's only 5 more minutes and incredible; you DON'T want to miss this!" so I persevered. So glad we did! The color is because this lake is created by glacier silt run-off.
