Once again Immanuel Lutheran Church in Taylor coordinated and directed members from 11 area churches to put on the 2015 Live Nativity in Bethlehem. I was one of the "embedded crowd" people, walking amongst roughly every other group of 25 people who came through the event. I couldn't help but take pictures off and on; many which appear to be the same scene, only may have been when a different Mary & Joseph character couple were 'acting'. There were three different Mary & Joseph couples plus three different Guides, who alternated leading the groups thru, narrating between the various scenes. There were roughly 100 volunteers in costume who collectively put this together including the choir who continually sang Christmas carols in the sanctuary while newly-arrived guests waited for their group number to be called. There were also others "behind the scenes" who helped with construction/tear-down, were parking lot attendants or workers in the kitchen. 15-minute performances were started about every 8 minutes, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. both Sat & Sun. The lines that most of the cast members said were straight out of the Bible, with only a few characters, like the Linen Lady and the Tax Collector who had ad-libbed their dialogues. Over the two nights that weekend, a total of 722 guests went thru the performance, $988 in cash and 205 cans of non-perishable food were collected to be donated to Taylor's Shepherd's Heart Food Pantry, and a whopping total of 2,567 man hours were donated to put this event on.
