The gravel "trench" from the tall tower up ahead, down past me and quite a ways further down, was filled with dead soldier's bodies after the bloodiest day of battle. They said you could walk in to town by stepping on nothing but dead bodies. They were pulled to this natural ditch and later covered in a mass long & narrow grave together.
