We got probably within 5-10 miles of the Matanuska Glacier View off this hwy when we decided it best to turn around and head back to Palmer. Our gas gauge (& bladder gauge) didn't think we'd make it going any further, knowing how far behind us the closest gas station (with restroom) was. So close, and yet didn't see the actual glacier close up, but did see glimpses of it in the distance as we headed that way.
