Costa Rica - Apr 2014 060.JPG

Showing their typical Costa Rican coffee pot: it's all manual, just put your fresh-ground beans in the white cloth basket, place your cup beneath it, then slowly pour boiling water in the basket and out drips your fresh coffee.

Their coffee was good. The tour description said we would stop at a coffee plantation but everything was dark by the time we got to that area of mountain. They use a more-granular sugar than the USA uses and something called "Agua Dulce" (sweet water) that you add to your coffee, which is sugar, water and cream blended together and comes in a small carton. To me, it looked like slightly-thinned condensed milk as I added it to mine. They also use that "creamer" as a beverage by itself, heating it (like hot chocolate) and often have it with their breakfast or as a late evening drink. We tried it our first night with our "typical Costa Rican dinner"; it was "okay" to me but Dave didn't care for his.

So, did you like the coffee? :D And did they use lots of sugar and powdered milk/milk? I love the simple design - can't get easier than that!
