This bright green tree had a nice weathered log beneath it and a posted wooden sign (in Spanish) to the left, rear side of it. It was VERY hot and humid and we desperately needed a break. We were sitting in the shade beneath it when a Costa Rican native came up to us to explain that the sign is a warning. This tree secrets liquid drops that are poisonous to humans and he warned us to immediately get out from under it! Why would anyone drag an old log and put right beneath it, for unsuspecting foreigner's to possibly sit on?! It was just about the only place we found that was comfortable to take a break on during our entire 3-hour round-trip hike.
