This was also used during and just after Hurricane Katrina, as the largest location for safe shelter, only they started having damage to their structure and needed to bus evacuees by the thousands out of NOLA and to adjacent states. Our tour guide said that 80% of NOLA residents evacuated. Close to 5 years later only 60% of those have returned.
