We had an actual ice storm!!! It came in the night. It was bad enough for the kids and I to miss 2 straight days of school/work, not to mention the majority of drivers being asked NOT to drive unless absolutely necessary. It was very strange to sit and watch the traffic on the highway in front of our house going 10-20 mph instead of the usual 60-70 mph. Luckily we didn't hear of any deaths but saw LOTS of vehicle collisions on T.V. in the general Austin, TX area. For a person born & raised in Louisiana, and then most of her adult life in southern California or central Texas, I haven't been around ice very much. I'm sure to anyone used to such weather you're laughing at my photos of 1/2" of ice - to me, a 1/2" of ice was a LOT!
